Moosey Montreal

Yasas everyone!

I hope you had great weekends. What did all of you get up to? I hope you spent some great times with your families and friends. I took a trip home to visit my family in Montreal. The roadtripping was a bit brutal – 12 hours of driving to be there for basically a day, but it was such fun to see them.

Road trippin' old school ^~ {rootsweb.com}

There’s something so special about being taken care of. Now that I live away from home, having my mom ask “what can I make for you? What would you like? Do you have any laundry I can do?” is almost enough to reduce me to giddy tears – especially that last one, I can’t -stand- ironing, ugh.

  • Do you live away from your parents? What are your favorite things to do when you go home to visit?

My dad and I always, always go to this delicious little cafe in the heart of town. A trip home doesn’t feel complete without one of their seriously superior lattes ^~ Andrew came along with us, so it was perfect. Two of my favorite men ^~ Had my brother been there, my ‘collection’ would have been complete, ahaha.

On Saturday, we got up early and headed out to visit one of my best friends, who has recently started working at an Ecomuseum on Montreal’s West Island. We had a really interesting, animal-filled afternoon. Picture dump, anyone?

Isn't she beautiful? Hard to believe chihuahuas (ugh) descended from this gorgeous animal.

Bears are SO cute. I could never work at a zoo, I'd get mauled trying to hug the animals ^~

Something about this Lynx's sleepy smile was very, very familiar...

Cat contentment; universal.

Too cute - I wish they weren't tagged, though, poor guys.

Nice rack ;D

I’m going to admit something pretty embarassing to you. Actually, two things. 1: I still collect stuffed animals. Specifically, antlered stuffed animals. Whether it’s a deer, an antelope, a caribou, or a moose (my especial favorite), I’m in. I’m obsessed with them. This started when I was about 16 when my parents got me an enormous stuffed moose for Christmas from Vermont.

Now that you know this about me, you’ll understand why I was so excited to see the caribou above, and why the picture below was so absolutely necessary:

What else was I supposed to do? I feel like I would be accepted into the herd with these badboys.

Questions:

  • Do you have a favorite animal? What kind? Why! :D I love how different animals speak to different people.
  • … tell me I’m not alone, any 20+ bloggers out there who still get a liiiittle excited about a stuffed animal? ^~

Moving on, but staying with Saturday, we ended up seeing “Inception,” the new Nolan/DiCaprio movie. Oh my gosh, guys.

This movie was AMAZING! Honestly one of the best movies I think I’ve ever seen. The concept was so cool, and some of the scenes were like you were watching the inner workings of an Esscher painting. I’m going to buy this movie to add to the “coveted DVD” collection I’ve got going.

Amazing.

  • Have you seen it? What did you think? If you haven’t, go TONIGHT!

I’m so glad that Leo has made such an incredible comback. He totally redefined himself and is in my mind one of the best actors out there right now. The Departed and Shutter Island are two other especial favorites.

I’m keeping this post short because I’ve got a few text-heavy ones coming your way. Stay tuned for some recipes, though, to keep you going!

  • I live 10+ hours away from my parents… and I LOVE going home to visit them, now! I love when my mom buys me my fave greek yogurt, does my laundry, or goes on trips to Trader Joes and Target with me- and my fave restaurants, of course!!

    I love Monkeys!

And my boyf and I totally have a stuffed animal collection going on. He has a “naked” plushie, Pooky from Garfield, my Chef Hello Kitty and a monkey and a cheetah we won at the Playdium. We’re pretty much five years old. And I love it. ;)

    I haven’t seen that movie… now I want to!

    See you soon, hopefully!!

    xo

Aw Kristin that sounds like what my mom and I do! When we went on our date in Florida we were all about the target runs, flea market runs, chobani breakfasts and moonlight bike rides <3 Oh, and dustins, of course.

Your stuffed animal collection sounds awesome – you ~would~ have a hello kitty chef! Hahaha.

    See you Monday <3

  • I haven’t seen Inception, but EVERYONE I’ve talked to said it was amazing! I think I’ll wait until it’s at the dollar theatre, though…it’s been hyped a little too much for me.

I have lots of stuffed animals! :) I rotate them out every night, haha! I got really excited about these adorable Disney character stuffed animals at Disney World, but I was out of cash :(

Probably makes sense. We usually got to this little cheapie theatre most of the time too, but we paid the big bucks (well, my parents did ;)) for Inception. I know it’s been hyped, but you won’t be disappointed.

Aww about the Disney characters!! The last time I was there I bought a little Pegasus from Hercules <3 <3 <3

  • Melissa:

Aha I love your cats! That made me laugh :)
I most definitely still collect stuffed animals – in fact I am quite the professional at it. Most of my collection is formed of dogs and cats but there is the odd parrot or monkey there too. I’ve tried to part with them before (donate them to charity etc.) but I always feel like I’d be betraying them, haha. I think we should all just keep them forever instead.

Hahaha. I know exactly what you mean about betraying them. I couldn’t’ even leave them at home when I moved out to the apartment – I had to take them up here with me. So silly, but so seriously necessary.

I had tons of dogs and cats when I was little, before the whole antler thing hit ^~

Glad I made you smile, Dolch does that to me too :3

  • Oh my gosh, I am DYING to see Inception. DYING. Leonardo DiCaprio is my favorite actor of all time. I’m in love with him. For real. My BF and I have an agreement that if I ever have the opportunity to do him, it’s not cheating. Just a tad obsessed. I must see it SOON!

One of my good friends actually works at the zoo :) I love your pictures!! My favorite zoo animal is probably monkeys. They just have such personalities!

Hahahaha Gabriela I totally agree – Leo doesn’t count as cheating at ALL. He’s kind of on my bucket list. Actually, he totally ~is~ my bucket list ^~

How cool! Yeah it’s fun when your friends work there. It was neat to have one of my best friends show me around, and even cooler to see how much she loved her world.
There were no monkeys at the ecomuseum, unfortunately, but I like them too, they’re too funny.

  • Haha, I was the typical college kid who came home for groceries and help with laundry :) I actually like living away from my family, but it is nice to go back once in a blue moon and just chill out while they keep house ; )

Hi Faith! I like living on my own too; the freedom is a nice thing, and I like that I’ve really “started my life.” It certainly is nice to come home for laundry and food, though. And free meals out :D
