Montreal, Markets & Missing ~you!~

HELLO!!! <3

Kalinihta my dears, hello, hello! I haven’t updated here in the longest time (completely against my will) but I thought of you and this lovely little piece of internet so often. I spent the busiest week of my life writing final exams and working on features for the magazine. It was really stressful and completely devoid of sleep. I am so glad that it’s over though! And the good news is that I spent a really sweet weekend at home catching up with the fam afterwards to recover.

My mom and I went to a Church “Ladies’ Breakfast, where I got to catch up with all of my adopted aunts and grandmas; we went  and visited my parents’ new house (!! gorgeous) and on Sunday my mom and I went to one of our favorite places, the Atwater market:

One of my favorite places in Montreal <3 The Atwater Market

I didn't notice this couple until after I took the picture, I thought it was so sweet, and aren't the flower baskets pretty?

I hope they didn’t think I was ~seriously~ creepy! I totally didn’t notice they were there. I love it when couples hold hands and sneak a kiss in public. I think it’s adorable. I have friends who are very anti-pda, however. I think I fall somewhat in the middle, but maybe leaning slightly towards the pda-friendly side. I think it’s precious when couples stop for a quick kiss, and hand-holding is one of my favorite things <3 I’m not a fan of people who look like they’re trying to eat each others tonsils, though. Ugh.

  • How do you feel about PDA?

Yum yum yum fresh produce! The asparagus are in season right now they're the width of my ~fingers!~

We also went to lululemon, another of my favorite places in pretty much any city ^~ My mom was very excited. She’d been in lulus before, of course, but always to buy things for me as gifts, etc. This time I ran around while she tried on different pairs of pants and may I please say that that lady looked smokin‘ ;D She said something while she was happily modeling lulus’ iconic “groove” pant that really stuck with me: If I wear these and wear sneakers around, just around, I know I’ll move more.” Attagirl mama <3

Those were the definite highlights of the last little while, so lets move on to the foodie side of the blog, shall we? These were some of the eats that kept me going through the most stressful week EVER:

Yeah, I get it now. Nut-butter crusted parsnip fries ~do~ live up to the hype.

Amey's Split Pea Soup - the walnuts made this. It was great, actually worth the price ($3.50 per small can, oof)

Whenever I eat something that I haven’t personally prepared, like a canned soup or frozen meal, I like to try and add something fresh. Although I always go for the organic option, I like to be involved with what I’m eating. Even if you’re just adding a garnish, it makes a difference! So does plating your meals. Celebrate everything that you fuel your body with by offering it up to yourself prettily on a plate. There’s ~no~ reason to eat out of those awful plastic trays!

Roasted Brussels, Sweet Potatoes with Flax and MM's favorite Kale Salad

Portobello veggie burgers are so easy and so fast, I make this a ~lot~

No reason why you should ever drink out of anything but wine glasses and mason jars ^~

This was by far my favorite eat of the past little while. I plated it and realized just how pretty it looked. Fairytale tempeh <3 Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d ever write anything like that down.

Fairytale Tempeh with Artichokes and Dinosaur Kale

Why "fairytale tempeh?" Look! Doesn't the artichoke look just like a rose? Yes, I am that much of a hopeless romantic..

I also received a very special package in the mail, something that I haven’t been able to dig into until now because of all of my exams. If you recall, I asked for cookbook suggestions awhile ago. Well, today, my birthday/christmas present came in!! Thanks theos <3

Woohooo!!

  • What are some of your favorite recipes from the books above? I’m going to try and make at least one new meal a week. I  need to expand my meal repertoire, not that Kale salad isn’t absolutely perfect every single time ^~

I think I’m going to end this post here, now that you’re conveniently caught up. As the job has settled down a bit and I’m out of school, I’ll be back to the regular daily posts you’re used to. Thanks so much for being patient! Be excited for tomorrow, because, secret, I’ll be hosting the very very first MEDITERRANEAN MISS GIVEAWAY!! Details to come.

Good night my dears!
